It’s business baby! And I’m going to give you an insider look at the world of affiliate marketing.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is when you promote somebody else’s product or services and they give you a cut in return if/when someone purchases.

Kind of like a finders fee. Yessir. You are essentially the middleman. Connecting customers with the products or services they didn’t know they needed!

So… What Is A Affiliate Marketing Business About Today?

Imagine this: You start a blog or a social media account. You find a product or service that has impacted your life, let’s say, a unique soap dispenser. You sign up for that product’s affiliate program.

Then you get a special link; A unique link, called an affiliate link to that soap dispenser.

Now when you share your good experience with this “super soap dispenser” with your social media following or mention it in a blog post, link out to it. And if someone clicks over and makes a purchase you get paid.

That’s affiliate marketing. That simple.

You really get paid for recommending products that have helped you. Not just because the payouts are good; and that’s the true beauty behind this business model!

What Makes Affiliate Marketing So… Attractive?😏

For starters, it’s easy to hop in on an already successful product/service without actually creating the product or service.

Then it gives you the the ability to work remotely from anywhere in the world. The flexibility is unmatched.

The income is relatively passive. You don’t have to deal with customers just simply create relevant content and link out to products. And let the affiliate deal with allat customer service bulljunk! You just inform and refer!

Then to top it off: NO CAPPED EARNINGS.

The more people you attract and get to purchase the more money you make. It comes down to intangibles. Stuff like integrity, consistency, creativity, and social influence really come into play.

Challenges Associated With Affiliate Marketing

Most issues that I hear honestly come down to marketing and creating trust. Most people are so eager to make a dollar that they won’t have the patience to sit and write a blog post like this in an overall attempt to influence someone to make a purchase.

It takes time and effort to get someone to step outside of their comfort zone and make a committed purchase for a high ticketed affiliate offer.. i.e. $149.

And this is why most people fail. Nothing is just going to be given to you. If nobody has told you it’s marketing science. Yes, the internet is relatively new but the psychology of marketing has not changed much. Learn it!!!

How I Began To See Success…

You have to consistently create content tailored and aimed at your target niche audience. When I say content I mean utilize all the free media platforms like YouTube, Google, Facebook, Twitter (or X🙄), Instagram, etc.

Just go out and just talk about all aspects of that niche consistently by making posts on platforms like l mentioned above with the intent to get them off of that social media platform to your website.

This article is an example of me talking about another aspect of the digital marketing niche: Affiliate marketing. In theory I would create content around digital marketing or affiliate marketing and link out to this article.

See with a blog, every post is like a little sales page. At the end or somewhere in each article I make it my job to implement a call to action like:

Posting About The Same Thing Sounds Boring

Does it get tedious constantly talking about the same subject? Yes! But this is why it’s important to choose a product in a niche that you care about!

Me for example. I’m from your typical inner-city environment.  You know… The hood! A place where I see some of the most talented ambitious people reside under low-income circumstances. 

If they only knew what I know about SEO, SEM, social media marketing, and affiliate marketing they could make BIG moves for pennies. I want to see them win but most don’t even know about it, therefore it’s my duty to inform the people✊🏽

^^^ This is a passion that I am pointing out. I’m so passionate and knowledgeable that I can come up with tons of different relevant content ideas for products I use without sounding “salesy!”

If I do my job right as an affiliate marketer and inform, people will be naturally inclined to want to purchase.

I want people to wake up and take advantage of the opportunities the internet presents. Thus the reason the only products you will see me promote/mention are digital business products/services that I have used, tried, and tested!

My Advice

Be upfront and honest with your audience about who you affiliate with and choose products/services that you have used and truly believe in.

And lastly, always create insightful, helpful, valuable, up-to-date, and most importantly authentic niche-related content. Do this and the sky is the limit!
